About these terms
Edutara is a private tuition service in India that matches one learner with one tutor, for lessons at the learner's home or online. Edutara looks for the tutor and introduces them. Edutara then sets the lesson fee, bills the learner for the lessons, and pays the tutor for each lesson taught.
These terms apply to everyone who uses edutara.in: learners, the people who register a learner, and tutors. By sending a form or otherwise using the service, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
In these terms, "Edutara", "we" and "us" mean Edutara, and "you" means the person using the service. The privacy policy explains how we handle personal data and forms part of these terms.
1. The service
Edutara is a managed tuition service. This is what it does, and what rests with the tutor.
What Edutara does
It reads your request, looks for a tutor who teaches what you need, introduces the two of you, sets and bills the lesson fee, pays the tutor for each lesson taught, and stays in touch while lessons continue to help keep the match working.
The lessons
The tutor decides how to teach and is responsible for the lessons. The learner and the tutor agree between themselves the schedule and the place or online platform; Edutara sets the fee.
Tutors are independent
Each tutor runs their own teaching. Nothing in these terms creates an employment or agency relationship between Edutara and a tutor.
Changing tutors is free
The learner continues with a tutor only while the lessons work for them. When the learner, or whoever registered the learner, asks for a different tutor, at any point, Edutara finds a new tutor free of charge.
Matches and results
Each request is matched on its subject, class, board and locality, and marks, ranks and results come from the learner's own work with the tutor. These terms therefore make no promise about particular marks, ranks or results.
2. Using Edutara
To use Edutara, you agree to the following.
Age
You must be 18 or older to use Edutara for yourself. A learner under 18 uses Edutara through a parent or lawful guardian, who sends the request and agrees to these terms on the learner's behalf.
Accurate information
Give information that is true and complete, and tell us when it changes.
Your own contact details
Use contact details that belong to you, so that messages about your request reach you.
3. Fees and payments
Every payment for lessons goes to Edutara, and Edutara pays the tutor.
Lesson fees
Edutara sets the fee for lessons, the first lesson included, from the class or exam, the subject, the city and whether lessons are at home or online. You pay Edutara by invoice.
Before you pay
The amount and the taxes that apply are shown to you at enrolment, before you pay, and you are charged only after you have seen them. Cancellations and refunds follow the refund and cancellation policy.
Paying the tutor
Edutara pays the tutor for each lesson taught. A tutor may not ask for or accept payment from a learner or from anyone on the learner's behalf; if that happens, tell Edutara.
Tutors never pay
Tutors never pay Edutara anything: no joining fee and no charge per student or lead.
4. Tutors
Anyone who applies to teach through Edutara agrees to the following.
Who can apply
College students, graduates, retired teachers and teachers who work outside the school system, aged 18 or older.
Serving school teachers
Section 28 of the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009 bars teachers in schools from giving private tuition. A teacher currently employed by a school may not apply. A tutor who later takes up a teaching post in a school must tell Edutara and stop taking students through Edutara.
Honest applications
State your qualifications, experience and current occupation truthfully. Edutara may ask for documents that confirm them, and may decline or withdraw any application.
Your pay
Edutara pays you for each lesson you teach, and each class offer states its rate before you accept it. You may not ask for or accept payment from a learner or from anyone on the learner's behalf.
Conduct
Teach with care, keep to the times agreed, respect the learner's home and family, and keep the learner's safety in mind at all times, above all when the learner is a child.
5. Acceptable use
When you use Edutara, you agree not to do any of the following.
Give false information
Send false details, pretend to be someone else, or apply or ask for a tutor on behalf of another person without their permission.
Misuse contact details
Use contact details received through Edutara for anything other than the lessons they were shared for.
Harm or harass anyone
Harass, threaten, discriminate against or endanger a learner, a family member, a tutor or anyone else.
Put a child at risk
Conduct that puts a child at risk ends the person's use of Edutara, and Edutara will report it to the authorities where the law requires.
Misuse the site
Send spam, try to break into or interfere with the site, or copy its content or data by automated means.
Break the law
Use Edutara for anything unlawful.
6. Content on this site
Who owns what, on the site and in the forms.
Our content
The text, design and other material on edutara.in belong to Edutara. You may read, print and share it for personal, non-commercial use.
What you send us
You keep ownership of what you write in our forms, and you allow Edutara to use it for the purposes set out in the privacy policy.
7. Liability
The limits below apply to the extent the law allows.
The lessons
Because the tutor decides how to teach, Edutara is not responsible for how lessons are taught or for their results.
Indirect loss
Edutara is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, such as lost opportunities, arising from use of the service.
The limit
Where Edutara is liable to you, its total liability is limited to the fees you paid Edutara for the lessons concerned.
Rights these terms do not take away
Nothing in these terms limits any right you have under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019 or any other law that cannot be excluded by agreement, or Edutara's liability for fraud or for anything else the law does not allow to be limited.
8. Ending use of the service
Either side can end use of the service.
You
You can stop using Edutara at any time. To have your data erased or to withdraw consent, see the privacy policy.
Edutara
Edutara may stop providing the service to anyone who breaks these terms or puts a learner, a family or a tutor at risk.
9. Changes to these terms
The current version of these terms is always on this page, with the date it was last updated at the top.
Significant changes
If a change affects you significantly, we will tell you before it takes effect, using the contact details you gave us.
After a change
Using Edutara after a change takes effect means you agree to the updated terms.
10. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of India.
Talk to us first
If something goes wrong, raise it with Edutara first through the grievance route below. The grievance team records each complaint, looks into it with the learner and the tutor, and replies with the steps it is taking.
Courts and consumer commissions
Disputes that cannot be settled that way are subject to the jurisdiction of the courts in India. If you are a consumer, you may also approach the consumer commissions set up under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019.
Grievances
To raise a complaint about the service, about a tutor, or about these terms, contact Edutara's grievance officer.
Write your complaint in Edutara's request form, which opens with a box for it. The complaint reaches the Edutara team that handles grievances, which replies at the phone number or email you give.
