What is an Edutara tutor?

An Edutara tutor teaches one learner at a time, at the learner's home or online. That learner might be a school student in any class from 1 to 12, someone preparing for an entrance exam, a college student, or an adult learning spoken English or a skill for work. You choose what you teach and where you travel, you agree your fee with the learner, and the learner pays you directly. Edutara's part is finding learners who need exactly what you teach.

    Applications are reviewed before anyone is matched with a learner, so Edutara knows what you teach and where.

    When a learner needs what you teach, in your area or online, Edutara puts the two of you in touch. The first lesson is a trial.

    You and the learner agree the fee and timings. The learner pays you directly, and Edutara takes nothing from it.

Edutara serves everyone who wants to learn, from a child in Class 1 to a working adult, so there is room for many kinds of tutors. You choose where you fit when you apply.

School subjects, Class 1 to 12

Maths, science, English, Hindi, social science and the rest of the syllabus, on CBSE, ICSE / ISC and state boards such as UP Board, Bihar Board, WBBSE / WBCHSE, Maharashtra SSC / HSC and Karnataka SSLC / PUC.

Entrance exams

Preparation for JEE Main and Advanced, NEET-UG, CUET-UG, and state CETs such as MHT CET, KCET, AP and TG EAPCET and WBJEE.

College and university

One-to-one support with college subjects and semester exams, for students who want a patient guide.

Adult learners

Spoken English, IELTS, other languages, and the skills people need for work.

How tutor fees work

How much a home tutor earns comes down to the fee agreed with each learner. Edutara does not set that fee and takes no share of it.

You agree the fee

You and the learner, or the family, agree the fee before regular lessons begin, along with how often you meet.

It is paid to you directly

The family or learner pays you. Edutara does not collect, hold or delay lesson fees.

Nothing is deducted

There is no commission on your lessons and no charge for being matched with a learner.

Joining Edutara is free, and it stays free. There is no registration fee, no commission on your lessons and no charge per lead. Edutara's own fees are paid by families, for finding them a tutor and keeping the match working.

The family or learner pays you directly, at the fee the two of you have agreed. Edutara never collects your lesson fees, so nothing is deducted on the way to you.

It depends on the fee you agree with each learner, and lesson fees usually vary with the class, the subject and the city. Edutara does not fix or publish tutor rates, and it takes no share of what you earn.

Teachers currently working at a school cannot. Section 28 of the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009 bars teachers in schools from giving private tuition, so the application asks you to confirm that you do not teach at a school. Retired teachers and teachers outside the school system are welcome to apply.

Yes. If you are in college and know your subjects well, you can apply to teach school students, help with entrance exam preparation, or support learners in your own field.

College students and graduates without a B.Ed are welcome to apply. What matters most is knowing your subject well and explaining it in a way the learner can follow.

Yes, either works. In the application you choose home tuition, online tuition or both, and Edutara looks for learners who want what you chose.
