What is a Hindi tutor job?

A Hindi tutor job with Edutara is part-time, one-to-one teaching of Hindi as a school subject. Some learners take it as their first language, on CBSE Course A or a state board paper such as UP Board 901. Others take it as a second or third language, on CBSE Course B or as an ICSE second language, and need patient work on reading, spelling and sentence building. You teach from the learner's own syllabus and NCERT textbooks, and Edutara pays you for every lesson you teach.

  • Course A (code 002) teaches Hindi as a first language; Course B (code 085) teaches it as a second language
  • Both Class 10 papers carry 80 marks in the board exam and 20 marks of internal assessment
  • Grammar alone is worth 16 marks in Class 9 and 10, on both courses
  • Class 11-12 learners take Hindi Core (302) or Hindi Elective, each with a writing-for-media textbook
  • Adults who are learning Hindi as a new language also ask for a tutor

What a strong Hindi tutor brings

Edutara asks for no degree, no B.Ed and no years of experience. College students are welcome to apply. What matters is the Hindi you can teach and how you explain it.

Group 1

Command of the language

  • Clean grammar: sandhi, samas, vachya, pad parichay and the rules behind correct sentences
  • Correct spelling and matra use, with the habit of pointing out a learner's errors kindly
  • The ability to read a poem aloud and explain its meaning, imagery and context in simple words
  • For UP Board learners, enough Sanskrit to translate a prose passage or verse into Hindi
Group 2

Familiarity with the papers

  • Knowing the difference between Course A and Course B, and which one your learner sits
  • Comfort with the NCERT prose, poetry and supplementary readers for Class 9 to 12
  • Practice formats for the writing section: paragraphs, formal letters, email, CV and dialogue
  • A sense of how unseen passages are framed and how a learner should read them under time
Group 3

Patience with second-language learners

  • A calm way of building vocabulary for learners whose home language is something else
  • Willingness to switch to English or the learner's language to explain a hard point
  • Steady listening and speaking practice, since schools test both every year
Group 4

For online lessons

  • A phone, tablet or laptop with camera and microphone, and a connection that holds a video call
  • A way to write Devanagari clearly on a whiteboard app or on paper held to the camera

  3. Hours that fit your week
  4. Home or online, your choice
  5. A clear rate on every offer
  6. Your teaching grows with your learners

Learners on every board

CBSE, ICSE and state board learners all study Hindi in some form, from primary reading to Class 12 literature, so your subject travels across boards.

Teach the level you enjoy most

Pick classes that suit you: early reading and handwriting, the Class 10 grammar and writing push, or the deeper literature of Hindi Core and Elective.

Hours that fit your week

Lessons are part-time and set around your college timetable or other work, so a Hindi tutor can take one class or several.

Home or online, your choice

Teach at learners' homes near you, or online from anywhere in India for learners in cities where Hindi is a second or third language.

A clear rate on every offer

Each class offer states its rate before you accept it, and Edutara pays you directly for every Hindi lesson you teach.

Your teaching grows with your learners

A learner who starts with you on Class 9 grammar may stay through Class 12 Core, so one match can turn into years of steady Hindi teaching.

8 questions answered
  1. Which Hindi courses and classes will I teach?

It depends on the learners you agree to take. Most requests are for CBSE Course A or Course B in Class 9 and 10, Hindi Core or Elective in Class 11 and 12, ICSE learners who take Hindi as their second language, and state board papers such as UP Board Hindi. Younger learners in the primary classes also need help with reading and writing, and some adults want to learn Hindi as a new language.

  2. What is the difference between CBSE Hindi Course A and Course B?

CBSE designs Course A (code 002) for learners who grew up speaking Hindi, taught from the NCERT books Kshitij and Kritika. Course B (code 085) is Hindi as a second language, taught from Sparsh and Sanchayan. Both papers have unseen passages, grammar, textbook questions and creative writing, and in Class 10 Course B gives slightly more weight to writing.

  3. Do I need to teach the listening and speaking part?

It helps your learner. CBSE gives 5 of the 20 internal marks in Class 9 and 10 to listening and speaking, where the examiner reads a short passage aloud or plays an audio clip. In Class 11 and 12 the listening and speaking test and the project are assessed in school. A little reading-aloud and conversation in each lesson prepares the learner well.

  4. Can I teach UP Board Hindi if my Sanskrit is basic?

UP Board Class 10 Hindi includes a Sanskrit section worth 14 marks, with prose and verse to translate into Hindi with reference to context. If you can translate and explain those passages comfortably, you can take UP Board learners. If you prefer to teach only Hindi, say so when you apply and Edutara will match you with CBSE or ICSE learners instead.

  5. How does Edutara decide which Hindi learner I get?

Edutara's team reads each learner's request, including class, board, course, home or online and the days that suit them, and looks for a tutor who teaches exactly that. Then it puts you in touch, and lessons begin at the first class, which Edutara pays you for like each one after it.

  6. Can I teach Hindi online to learners in other states?

Yes. Many learners study Hindi as a second or third language in states where it is not the home language, and online lessons let you reach them from your own city. A video call, a whiteboard app or a page held to the camera is enough to work through grammar and writing.

  7. How and when am I paid?

The learner pays Edutara and Edutara pays you for every lesson you teach and log, at the rate stated on the class offer you accepted. Rates vary from class to class, and each offer shows its rate before you say yes. You never collect money from a learner.

  8. I am in college. Can I fit Hindi tuition around my classes?

Yes. Edutara recruits college students, and every class is part-time. Tell Edutara which days and hours you are free and you will only receive offers that fit them, so your own studies stay on track.
