What is an Accountancy tutor job?

An Accountancy tutor job at Edutara is part-time, one-to-one teaching for commerce learners. In Class 11 that means vouchers, the accounting equation, books of original entry, ledgers, the trial balance and the final accounts of a sole proprietor. In Class 12 it moves to partnership firms, share and debenture capital, ratio analysis and the cash flow statement. Some learners carry the same groundwork into CUET or the CA Foundation accounting paper, and Edutara matches each one with a tutor who knows that ground well.

  • CBSE Class 11 builds from source documents to the sole proprietor's balance sheet with adjustments
  • CBSE Class 12 gives partnership firms 36 of the 80 theory marks, so goodwill and reconstitution need patient drilling
  • ISC learners answer a compulsory Section A, then pick Management Accounting or Computerised Accounting
  • CUET-UG lists Accountancy / Book-Keeping as domain subject 301, built on the Class 12 units
  • CA Foundation Paper 1 adds inventories, bills of exchange, limited liability partnership accounts and redemption of preference shares

What a strong accountancy tutor brings

Command of the debit and credit rules matters most. Many of our accounts tutors are B.Com students, CA aspirants and commerce graduates who still enjoy working a ledger by hand.

Command of the subject

  1. You can pass journal entries, post them to the ledger and balance a trial balance without hesitation
  2. You can prepare a trading and P&L account and balance sheet with closing stock, outstanding expenses and bad debts
  3. You can value goodwill by the average profit, super profit and capitalisation methods
  4. You can handle issue, forfeiture and re-issue of shares and the issue of debentures

Board and exam familiarity

  1. You know the NCERT accountancy textbooks for Class 11 and 12, or the ISC Accounts syllabus
  2. You can tell a learner which units carry the most marks and plan revision around them
  3. Familiarity with the CUET accountancy units or CA Foundation Paper 1 is a plus for older learners

Patience at the desk

  1. You can find the one wrong entry that throws a trial balance out, and show the learner how you found it
  2. You explain why a rule works before asking a learner to memorise it
  3. College students, graduates and retired teachers are all welcome to apply

Ready for online classes

  1. A laptop or tablet with camera and microphone and a connection that holds a video call
  2. Comfort building a ledger or bank reconciliation statement in a shared spreadsheet

Perks & Benefits

Why accounts tutors teach with Edutara

Accountancy rewards practice, and teaching it keeps your own accounts sharp for the exams you are still preparing for.

Revise your own CA Foundation basics

Every BRS, depreciation schedule and partnership adjustment you explain to a Class 12 learner is a rehearsal of the same ground in your own Foundation accounting paper.

Classes that fit around college lectures

Choose the evening or weekend slots you can keep. B.Com and CA students teach accounts alongside their own coursework.

Learners who match your strength

Edutara sends you learners whose class and board you know, whether that is a Class 11 learner on the journal or a Class 12 learner stuck on admission of a partner.

Home tuition close to you, or online

Teach at the learner's home in your own area, or from your desk over a video call with a shared spreadsheet.

Steady demand through the year

Board season brings Class 12 learners, and CA Foundation sittings in January, May and September bring aspirants who want their accounting paper solid.

8 questions answered
  1. Which classes and boards will I teach as an accountancy tutor?

Most learners are commerce students in Class 11 and 12. CBSE learners follow Accountancy 055 with the NCERT textbooks, and ISC learners follow Accounts 858, where Section A on partnership and company accounts is compulsory. You tell us which of these you know, and Edutara sends you learners on that syllabus.

  2. Can I teach CUET or CA Foundation accounting too?

Yes, if you know the ground. CUET-UG lists Accountancy / Book-Keeping as domain subject 301, with units on partnership, reconstitution, dissolution, company accounts and either financial statement analysis or computerised accounting. CA Foundation Paper 1 is a 100-mark accounting paper that also covers inventories, bills of exchange, limited liability partnership accounts and redemption of preference shares, so mention it on your form if you are ready for it.

  3. I am a B.Com student preparing for CA. Can I apply?

Yes. Edutara asks for no degree and no years of experience. College students, graduates and retired teachers are all welcome, and a CA aspirant who has worked through partnership and company accounts is exactly the tutor many Class 12 learners need.

  4. Do I need to teach Computerised Accounting?

Only if you choose to. CBSE makes it compulsory in Class 11 and offers it in Class 12 in place of Analysis of Financial Statements, and ISC offers it as Section C with spreadsheets and DBMS. Say on your form whether you are comfortable with the spreadsheet side, and Edutara matches learners to suit.

  5. Does my learner's project work count for anything?

It does. The CBSE paper carries 20 marks for the project in both years, and the Class 12 project includes a viva voce. Class 11 projects range from vouchers and a bank reconciliation statement to a full sole-proprietorship set, and CBSE suggests using a local shop for realistic amounts, so a tutor who can guide that work is a real help.

  6. How does online accountancy teaching work?

It is a live video call with one learner, working from the learner's own textbook. You can draw up a ledger or trial balance in a shared spreadsheet or a whiteboard app, and the learner holds written work to the camera or sends a photo of it. You need a device with camera and microphone and a connection that holds a video call.

  7. How will I be paid for accountancy classes?

The learner pays Edutara, and Edutara pays you for every lesson taught and confirmed. Each class offer states its rate before you accept it, and rates vary from class to class. You never collect money from a learner, and you never pay Edutara anything.

  8. What if a learner and I turn out to be a poor fit?

It happens, sometimes at the first class and sometimes a term in. If the learner asks for a different tutor, Edutara arranges a replacement free of charge, the lessons you already taught are paid, and you stay available for learners who suit your teaching better.

Turn your command of accounts into steady tutoring
