What is a tutor job in Pune?
A tutor job in Pune means teaching one learner at a time, in their home or over a video call, in a subject you already know. The learner could be a Class 9 student at a semi-English school who does maths and science in English and everything else in Marathi, a Class 12 student carrying HSC and MHT CET in the same year, a Class 5 child on the CBSE syllabus out in the IT suburbs, or an adult who wants to speak English with some ease at work. You and the learner agree the timings between yourselves. Edutara's part is to find you someone who needs exactly what you teach, and then to stay out of the way.
- You teach one learner at a time, at their home in Pune or online from wherever you are.
- The first class is a trial, so both sides find out whether the fit works before anything continues.
- Every class is paid by Edutara, at the rate its offer names
- Applying costs nothing, from the form to the first class.
- College students, graduates, research scholars and retired teachers all apply on the same form.

What Edutara asks of a tutor in Pune
There is no degree requirement and no minimum years of experience. What counts is that you know the subject at the level you are offering, and that you turn up in the slot you promised.
Who can apply
- College students, graduates, postgraduates, research scholars and retired teachers.
- People teaching outside the school system, including college faculty and coaching class teachers.
- Anyone living in Pune, and anyone elsewhere who wants to take Pune learners online.
- Teachers currently on a school's staff are kept out of private tuition by law, so this is for everyone else.
What you should know
- The board you are offering, because an SSC paper and a CBSE paper ask for different things.
- The syllabus of the exact classes you name, from this year's textbook and this year's pattern.
- Enough Marathi, Hindi or English to explain in the language the learner thinks in.
How you teach
- Patience with a learner who has fallen behind, since falling behind is usually what brings a learner to a tutor in the first place.
- A weekly slot you can hold through the long run from October to the February papers.
- A habit of checking whether something has landed before moving on to the next chapter.
What you need to hand
- For home classes, a way to reach the pockets you pick: Pune runs on two-wheelers, buses and the metro.
- For online classes, a steady connection, a quiet corner and some way of writing while you talk.
Unsure about a point? Apply anyway, and we will read your application before any match is made.
Why teaching in Pune works
The city has enough students, enough boards and enough evening traffic that a tutor who chooses their area carefully can build a week that actually holds together.
Pick a pocket and stay inside it
Kothrud and Karve Nagar sit almost on top of each other, and so do Viman Nagar and Kalyani Nagar. Two classes in one pocket are easier to keep than two across the river.
Evenings and Sundays are the market
School days here finish in the afternoon and coaching classes take the early evening, so the slot a learner asks a home tutor for is usually late evening on weekdays or a weekend morning.
Four boards in one city
Once you know how each paper asks its questions, the same subject can be taught to an SSC learner, a CBSE learner and an ICSE learner in the same week without starting from scratch.
Marathi, Hindi and English all get used
Plenty of Pune classrooms are semi-English: maths and science come in English while the rest of the day runs in Marathi. Being able to switch language mid-sentence is worth a great deal at a study table.
The city keeps you learning
Explaining HSC electrostatics or MHT CET organic chemistry every week is the steadiest revision a college student in Pune will get, and it shows up in your own results.
Each class arrives with its own figure
The rate moves with the class, the subject, the length of the session and the distance you travel, and all four are already priced into the offer Edutara sends you before the first class.
How to apply from Pune
Four steps, of which only the first one takes any work from you. The slow part is the teaching, and that begins once a learner has been found for you.
Fill the form
Tell us your subjects, the classes and boards you are comfortable with, the parts of Pune you can reach, and whether you want to teach at home, online or both.
Read the email that follows
An email reaches you with what happens next. No documents are asked for at this stage, and there is no interview to sit.
Your application is read
Someone goes through what you said you teach and which parts of Pune you can get to, so that you come up only for learners who match both.
Meet a learner and teach a trial class
The moment a learner in one of your pockets of Pune wants your subject, an introduction is made. The first class is a trial. If it suits both sides you carry on, and Edutara pays you for every class after that.
