One tutor, one learner
The hour belongs to a single learner. Nothing is skipped because the rest of a batch already understood it, and nothing is repeated because most of the room did not.
Home tuition in Pune from Edutara: one tutor for one learner, picked from thousands, at home or online, whether the year ends with the SSC papers in March, an ICSE portion test, or an MHT CET attempt in the spring. Tell us the class, the board and your locality. The first lesson is a trial.
How it works

Home tuition in Pune means a tutor comes to your flat or house and teaches one learner at a time, at an hour that survives school, the coaching-class rush and the evening traffic on Karve Road or Nagar Road. Learners here sit a wide mix of papers. The Maharashtra state board conducts the SSC and HSC examinations from Pune, where its head office and its Pune divisional board both sit. CBSE schools fill the newer townships on the edges of the city, and ICSE and ISC run in the older schools of the cantonment. A home tutor teaches to whichever of those syllabi the school follows, in English, Marathi or semi-English, and stays with the portion the school is teaching that week.
Four steps, from the first message to a weekly timetable that survives school hours and Pune traffic.
Say whether the school follows the state board, CBSE or ICSE, which subjects are slipping, and where in Pune you are: Baner, Bibwewadi, Wagholi or anywhere else in the city. Lessons at home or online is your choice.
A person reads the request and looks for someone who teaches that syllabus and can reach your locality on time, or teach online. A Marathi-medium Class 9 student and an ISC Class 12 student need different tutors.
The tutor comes home, or joins online, and teaches a full lesson. The learner sees how the explaining goes and whether the hour suits the day, and carries on once that lesson works.
Days and hours are agreed with the tutor, and Edutara confirms the fee for each lesson and bills it monthly. School timings, coaching-class slots and the evening commute usually shape what the week looks like.
The city runs from the peths in the middle out to IT corridors at both ends, and travel time decides much of how home tuition works.
Two municipal corporations govern this urban area, Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad, and the Rajiv Gandhi Infotech Park at Hinjawadi sits outside both, under the metropolitan authority. Where a tutor lives matters here, because an evening lesson in Kharadi is a different journey from one in Warje. Edutara looks for a tutor near the learner, and online lessons cover the rest.
A dense, largely Marathi-speaking suburb west of the river, with long-established state-board schools along Paud Road and the western end of the metro's Aqua Line at Vanaz.
The old centre, where the peths hold Marathi-medium schools that have taught for generations and the coaching quarter along Tilak Road fills up every evening.
Pune Cantonment, run by its own board, where several of the city's oldest English-medium schools follow ICSE and ISC and the streets still keep their army grid.
North-west Pune, with the Savitribai Phule Pune University campus at Ganeshkhind on one side and the newer CBSE schools of Baner and Balewadi on the other.
The Rajiv Gandhi Infotech Park and the housing that grew around it, on the Mulshi side of the district, where lessons are scheduled around office shift timings.
The eastern office belt around EON IT Park and the World Trade Center, close to the airport at Lohegaon, with Ramwadi closing the Aqua Line at this end of the city.
East Pune, where the old gaothan sits beside walled townships such as Magarpatta City and Amanora, so a tutor's travel can change street by street.
South Pune along the Satara Road spine and the Kondhwa side, with junior colleges at Dhankawadi and new flats running out towards Undri and Katraj.
The twin-city belt run by the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation, with factory townships, a heavy CBSE presence and the northern end of the metro's Purple Line.
School subjects on three boards, the state and national entrance exams, and language work for college students and working adults.
Five ways a home tutor is used here, from the SSC board year to spoken English for someone already at work.
The SSC written papers run from 1 to 11 March 2027, with practical and oral work from late January, so a Class 10 year in Pune is planned backwards from those dates.
What the learner gets:
Suits:
HSC written papers begin on 8 February 2027 and the state CET follows in the spring, over the same physics, chemistry, maths and biology ground. One tutor can hold both lines.
What the learner gets:

Many Pune students prepare for JEE Main and MHT CET across the same two years. A home tutor works on the topics a large coaching batch had to leave behind, at the learner's own pace.
What the learner gets:
Suits:
Biology, chemistry and physics for the medical line, taught beside the HSC portion so that the two syllabi feed each other through the same two years of evenings.
What the learner gets:

The offices at Hinjawadi, Kharadi and Magarpatta draw people from across India, and many of them want to speak English with more ease at work. Lessons are built around that.

Not sure which subject page fits? Describe the learner in a few lines, and we look for a tutor who teaches exactly that.
The learner carries on only if it works for them.
Days and timings are agreed between the learner and the tutor.
Priced for the class, the subject and the city, shared at enrolment and paid to Edutara by invoice.
A few decisions hold for every learner and tutor we bring together, in Pune and in every other city.
The hour belongs to a single learner. Nothing is skipped because the rest of a batch already understood it, and nothing is repeated because most of the room did not.
The learner sits through a full lesson with the tutor before anything is settled. When the tutor's hours stop fitting the learner's week, or the learner asks for a different teacher, Edutara lines up the next tutor and the change costs nothing.
Distance in Pune is measured in minutes at a signal. We look for someone who can make the journey to your locality at the hour you want, week after week through the year.
No joining fee and nothing charged for a lead, and Edutara pays the tutor for every lesson. That decision is permanent, so a tutor arrives at your door with nothing to collect.
College students, graduates, retired teachers, and people who teach outside the school system. Section 28 of the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009 puts private tuition out of bounds for a serving school teacher.
Lessons at your dining table, or on a screen when the city between you and the tutor is the difficulty. Learners move between the two as terms and timings change.
Boards, exam dates, fees, travel and what happens after the trial lesson.
Kothrud, Baner and Kharadi are all part of the search. Tell us the locality, the class and the subject, and we find someone who teaches exactly that and can reach you at the hour you want. Where the travel is the problem, the same subject can be taught online.
Yes. Pune has a large number of Marathi-medium and semi-English schools, where maths and science are taught in English while the other subjects stay in Marathi. Say which of the two your school follows, and the request goes out for a tutor comfortable teaching in that language. Terms in physics and mathematics are usually kept in English, because the board paper prints them that way.
The board announced the window in a press note on 17 September 2026. HSC written papers run from 8 February to 16 March 2027, with practical, oral, grade and internal assessment from 20 January to 6 February. SSC written papers run from 1 to 11 March 2027, with the practical and oral work from 28 January to 13 February. The subject-by-subject timetable is released separately by the board on its own site.
Often, yes, because the ground is the same. MHT CET is conducted by the State Common Entrance Test Cell, Maharashtra, for engineering and pharmacy admission, on physics and chemistry with either mathematics or biology. What differs is the shape of the question: the board wants written steps, the CET wants the correct option quickly. A tutor who knows both can keep them on one timetable.
Pune's two ends make the difference: an evening lesson in Kharadi is a different journey from one in Warje, and the fee Edutara sets reflects that along with the class, the subject and the hours in the learner's week. You hear the amount at enrolment, before anything begins, and pay Edutara on one invoice; Edutara pays the tutor.
Online works well for older learners and for subjects that live on a page: mathematics, accountancy, spoken English, and much of the theory in physics and chemistry. Younger children usually settle better with someone in the room. If the right tutor lives on the far side of the Hinjawadi traffic, you can ask for online lessons on weekdays and a longer lesson at home on the weekend.
Yes. Pune has a long ICSE and ISC tradition in the cantonment schools, so there are plenty of people here who studied on that syllabus themselves. Say the class, the subjects, and whether it is ICSE up to Class 10 or ISC in Classes 11 and 12, because the paper pattern and the weight given to internal assessment differ between the two.
No. Under Section 28 of the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009, someone employed as a teacher in a school cannot take private tuition at all. The search runs instead through college students, working graduates, retired teachers and people who teach outside the school system. With the number of colleges in and around Pune, that is a wide group here.
Tell us, and Edutara replaces the tutor free, using everything you have learned about what the learner actually needs. A match between two people can always be changed. Lessons already taught stay on your invoice as they were, and Edutara pays the first tutor for them.
Write to us through the contact page with your class, subject and area, and we will reply with the next steps.
Three systems sit side by side in this city. The Maharashtra state board teaches from Balbharati textbooks and examines at Class 10 as the SSC and at Class 12 as the HSC. CBSE schools have multiplied in the newer townships around Baner, Wakad, Kharadi and Undri, where many students arrive from other states and want a syllabus that travels with them. ICSE and ISC are older here than in most Indian cities, carried by the cantonment schools around Camp, among them the schools of The Bishop's Education Society.
Medium of instruction matters as much as the board. Many state-board schools run a semi-English stream, where mathematics and science are taught in English and the remaining subjects in Marathi, so a tutor has to move between the two inside one hour. A new Class 6 curriculum framed under the National Education Policy, with textbooks prepared by Balbharati, is being introduced in Maharashtra from the June 2026 academic year, and middle-school learners are the first to feel that change.
Secondary and higher secondary schools in Pune district opened the 2026-27 year on 15 June 2026. The first term runs to the end of October. The Diwali holiday falls from 2 to 14 November 2026, with schools reopening on 16 November, and the second term runs from there to the beginning of May. Summer vacation is set from 3 May to 14 June 2027.
That calendar decides when a home tutor is most useful. The weeks before Diwali are when a year's backlog becomes visible in the first-term marks, and the Diwali break itself is the longest clear stretch for repair work before the board season. From January the school turns to practicals, orals and preliminary papers, and tuition hours shift towards past papers and writing against a clock.
The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education issued its press note on 17 September 2026. HSC written examinations run from 8 February to 16 March 2027. SSC written examinations run from 1 to 11 March 2027. The practical, oral, grade and internal assessment work comes earlier: 20 January to 6 February for Class 12, and 28 January to 13 February for Class 10.
What has been announced is the window. The subject-by-subject timetable, the one candidates actually plan around, is published separately on the board's site, and in recent years it has followed some weeks after the press note. Pune is one of the board's nine divisional boards, alongside Mumbai, Nagpur, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Kolhapur, Amravati, Nashik, Latur and Konkan, and the divisional office sits in Shivajinagar. According to the SSC result declared in May 2026, the Pune division recorded 94.24 per cent against 92.09 per cent for the state as a whole.
A Pune science student usually keeps two exams in view at once. MHT CET, conducted by the State Common Entrance Test Cell, Maharashtra, is the route to engineering and pharmacy seats in the state, and it is set on physics and chemistry with either mathematics or biology. For the 2026-27 admission year the CET Cell held it in two sessions, with the PCM group from 11 to 20 April 2026 and the PCB group from 21 to 26 April, followed by a second session in May. Dates for the next cycle are announced by the CET Cell on its own site.
JEE Main and JEE Advanced, NEET-UG and CUET-UG are national examinations, and the National Testing Agency announces those schedules separately. A home tutor earns his hour here on the topics where a coaching batch has moved on and the learner has not, and on the slow work of turning a syllabus somebody half knows into answers written under a clock.
Pune has been called the Oxford of the East for a long time, and the nickname is really a statement about supply. According to the university's own account, Savitribai Phule Pune University has about 612 affiliated colleges and 307 recognised research institutes, its jurisdiction covers the Pune, Ahmednagar and Nashik districts, and its campus stands at Ganeshkhind in the north-west of the city. COEP Technological University and Fergusson College sit inside the city itself.
That is where tutors come from here: postgraduate students, working graduates, retired schoolteachers, and people who teach outside the school system. The Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009, Section 28 keeps serving school teachers out of private tuition, and Edutara follows it. A tutor pays nothing at any stage to be matched with a learner.
Pune Metro runs two lines today. The Purple Line joins PCMC Bhavan in the north to Swargate in the old city, and the Aqua Line crosses it from Vanaz in Kothrud to Ramwadi in the east, with an interchange at the District Court station. A third line towards Hinjawadi is under construction, so learners in the Infotech Park belt still plan their evenings around road traffic.
Administration matters for practical reasons too. The Pune Municipal Corporation and the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation are separate bodies, the Pune Cantonment Board runs Camp, and 23 villages were notified into the Pune Municipal Corporation in 2021, which is why some neighbourhoods now have new housing and school buses on roads that were village lanes a few years ago. Travel time is the real constraint on an evening lesson, so it is worth naming your locality plainly when you ask.
Edutara works the same way wherever the learner is.
Say which class, which board, which subjects are slipping, and where in Pune you live. We look from there.
What to expect
Begin with one trial lesson and continue only if the tutor suits the learner. After that, a single Edutara invoice covers the lessons.
