What is an online Hindi tutor job?

An online Hindi tutor job at Edutara is the work of teaching Hindi over a live video call to one learner for whom it is a second or third language: a school student on CBSE Course B, an ICSE student who offers Hindi in Group I, a Class 11 or 12 student on Hindi Core, or a working adult who wants to speak, read and write it with ease. You teach from the learner's own syllabus and NCERT textbooks, form Devanagari letters on a shared screen or whiteboard app, and correct handwriting the learner holds up to the camera or sends as a photo.

  • CBSE Hindi Course B, code 085, is the board's Hindi-as-second-language course for Class 9 and 10
  • A Course B Class 10 paper carries 80 board marks over 3 hours, with 20 more marks assessed in school
  • An ICSE candidate who offers two second languages in Group I must make one of them Hindi
  • India keeps one clock, IST, so a tutor in Kerala and a learner in Assam meet at the same hour
  • Adults who learn Hindi for work set their own goals, and lessons follow those goals

What a strong online Hindi tutor brings

A second-language learner reads slowly, translates in the head and hears sounds their own language lacks. The tutor who does well here explains simply and listens closely.

Command of Hindi

  1. Clean written Devanagari, with the matras, nukta and conjunct letters a beginner tends to mix up
  2. Grammar you can explain in plain words: gender agreement, postpositions and verb forms
  3. Confidence reading prose and poems from the NCERT Hindi books aloud and explaining them simply

Feel for the syllabus

  1. Familiarity with Course B books Sparsh and Sanchayan, or the will to learn them before class one
  2. A sense of what Course B writing tasks ask for in letters, notices and short compositions
  3. For Class 11 and 12, a feel for Hindi Core books Aaroh, Vitan and Abhivyakti aur Madhyam

Patience with a learner of Hindi

  1. Calm with a learner who pauses to find a word and thinks first in Tamil, Bangla or English
  2. Ease in explaining a point in English, then bringing the learner straight back into Hindi
  3. Warmth with adults who feel shy speaking a language they have taken up later in life

A setup for video lessons

  1. A camera and microphone that let your learner see your Devanagari and hear each vowel
  2. An internet connection that holds a video call for the whole lesson
  3. A quiet place to sit, since pronunciation and listening drive Hindi lessons online

Unsure about a point? Apply anyway, and we will read your application before any match is made.

  1. Learners from south, east and north-east

In one week you might teach a Course B student in the south and an ICSE student in the east, all from your own desk.

  2. One time zone for every lesson

India runs on IST with no daylight saving, so a 6 pm slot reads 6 pm for you and for your learner in any state.

  3. Free NCERT Hindi books on screen

NCERT textbooks are free to read as PDFs, so you and your learner can open the same Sparsh or Aaroh page during the call.

  4. Listening and speaking marks to build

CBSE sets 5 internal marks for listening and speaking in Class 9 and 10 Hindi, and a video call is a natural place to rehearse them.

  5. Adults who chose Hindi for themselves

Working adults bring a reason of their own, such as a new posting or a new city, and their lessons are shaped around that reason.

FAQ

Questions Hindi tutors ask before teaching online

What applicants want to know about Hindi courses, second-language learners, adult classes and pay.

Learners for whom Hindi is a second or third language: school students from Class 1 to 12 on CBSE, ICSE / ISC and state boards, college students who need Hindi for a course, and adults who want to speak, read and write it. Each class offer tells you the learner's class or level and board before you accept.

Course A, code 002, is titled Hindi as mother tongue and uses the NCERT books Kshitij and Kritika. Course B, code 085, is titled Hindi as a second language and uses Sparsh and Sanchayan. Both carry 80 board marks and 20 internal marks in Class 9 and 10. You can teach either, and Edutara pairs you with the course your learner actually sits.

For the 2025-26 session the 80-mark paper gives 14 marks to unseen passages (two passages of about 200 words each), 16 to grammar, 28 to the textbooks with 6 of those from Sanchayan, and 22 to creative writing. It runs 3 hours. The 20 internal marks cover periodic tests, multiple assessment, a portfolio, and listening and speaking, 5 marks each.

It carries 5 marks, split 2.5 for listening and 2.5 for speaking. The examiner reads a paragraph of 100 to 150 words aloud or plays an audio clip of one to two minutes, and the learner responds. Online, you can read passages of that length to your learner and practise the replies until they come easily.

Yes. Under the CISCE regulations for 2027, Group I holds English and a second language. A candidate who offers two second languages must make one of them Hindi, and subjects are fixed after 15 September of the Class IX registration year, so an ICSE learner who comes to you for Hindi usually stays with it through Class 10.

Yes. Many want Hindi for work or for daily life in a new city. The CBSE Hindi Core syllabus for Class 11 and 12 itself names workplace Hindi and mass media among the reasons to study the language, and adult lessons follow the learner's own goal at a pace that suits them.

Yes. Edutara recruits college students, graduates, retired teachers and teachers who work outside schools. No degree in Hindi or teaching certificate is asked for. Write the hours you have free around lectures, and accept only the class offers that fit them.

The learner pays Edutara, and Edutara pays you for every Hindi lesson you teach and confirm, at the rate written on the class offer you accepted. Every Hindi class offer names its own rate up front, so you know it before agreeing. You never collect money from a learner, and joining costs you nothing.

The learner holds the notebook up to the camera or sends a clear photo, and you mark the letters on a shared screen or whiteboard app. Writing a word stroke by stroke while the learner copies it is often the quickest way to fix a matra or a joined letter.
