Home tuition in Bhubaneswar, at your address

Home tuition in Bhubaneswar puts one tutor beside one learner, on CBSE, ICSE, BSE Odisha or CHSE Plus Two. Hundreds of tutors work across the city, so the lesson happens at a flat in Chandrasekharpur or online from Old Town. The first lesson is a trial, and the learner carries on only if the teaching suits.

How it works

  1. 1. Tell us the class or exam, board and subject.
  2. 2. We look for a tutor who teaches exactly that.
  3. 3. The first lesson is a trial.

Good to know

  • One tutor, one learner
  • Home or online lessons
  • First lesson is a trial
  • Tutors pay nothing to apply

What is home tuition in Bhubaneswar?

Home tuition in Bhubaneswar means a tutor comes to your flat or house and teaches one learner at a fixed hour, commonly in the evening once school and travel are done. The city was laid out in numbered units, each planned with its own high school, shopping centre and dispensary, so the school, the market and the tutor's own address often sit within the same few streets. Lessons follow whichever board the school uses: CBSE, the ICSE and ISC examinations, the Board of Secondary Education, Odisha for Class 10, or the Council of Higher Secondary Education for Plus Two. Explanations can run in English or in Odia, whichever language the learner thinks in.

What it gives the learner

  • An hour in which the learner can ask everything that went unasked in a full classroom
  • Teaching pitched at the board the school follows, down to the pattern of the question paper
  • A timetable built around school hours, evening traffic and the learner's own routine
  • Homework and revision checked in front of you, so a gap shows up in the same week it opens

Suits

  • Class 10 students sitting the BSE Odisha HSC examination
  • Plus Two Science students carrying JEE or NEET alongside CHSE papers
  • Primary children in English-medium schools whose home language is Odia
  • Working adults in the Infocity offices who want spoken English or IELTS

Getting a tutor to your door in Bhubaneswar

Four steps, from the first description of what you need to the evening the lessons settle into a routine.

1
A few minutes

Tell us the class, board and subject

Say whether the learner is in Class 8 or Plus Two, whether the school follows CBSE, ICSE, BSE Odisha or CHSE, and which locality a tutor has to reach. Online lessons work for learners outside the city too.

Step 1 of 4
2

Edutara looks for that exact tutor

We search for someone who actually teaches that board and that subject: a postgraduate student, a graduate, a retired teacher, or a teacher working outside the school system, and who can reach your locality at the hour you want.

Step 2 of 4
3
One lesson

The first lesson is a trial

The tutor comes home, teaches a real chapter, and you watch how the learner responds. If the learner would follow someone else better, say so and Edutara sends another tutor at no cost. Nothing is settled before that lesson has happened.

Step 3 of 4
4

Settle the days and the hour with the tutor

Days of the week and the hour are agreed between you and the tutor. Edutara sets the monthly fee for your plan, sends the invoice, and pays the tutor for each lesson taught.

Step 4 of 4
Coverage

Localities where we look for a tutor

Bhubaneswar spreads from the temple lanes of Old Town to Infocity in the north, and a tutor's route matters as much as the tutor.

Each request is searched from its own locality. When one comes from Sailashree Vihar or Jagamara, we look for a tutor who teaches that class and can reach that address on the days you want. These are the parts of the city this page covers, with the localities that sit inside each of them.

  1. The north of the city, laid out in vihars of flats and rowhouses. The Infocity IT park sits at its edge and DAV Public School stands in Sailashree Vihar, so a tutor's travel between two addresses inside this belt is usually short.

  2. The hinge between the old city and the northern vihars. Utkal University's Vani Vihar campus is alongside, and the roads through here carry traffic from one end of Bhubaneswar to the other for most of the day.

Lessons shaped around the learner in Bhubaneswar

Not sure which subject page fits? Describe the learner in a few lines, and we look for a tutor who teaches exactly that.

The first lesson is a trial

The learner carries on only if it works for them.

At home or online

Days and timings are agreed between the learner and the tutor.

A fee set by Edutara

Priced for the class, the subject and the city, shared at enrolment and paid to Edutara by invoice.

Our Advantages

How an Edutara match works

The same arrangement in every locality of the city, written down plainly so there is nothing to discover later.

One tutor, one learner

The hour belongs to a single learner. Questions that would go unasked in a full class get asked here, and the tutor can stay on the one step that is actually stuck for as long as it takes.

The first lesson is a trial

Nothing is fixed before you have seen the tutor teach a real chapter. If the style does not suit the learner, a replacement tutor is found and you pay nothing for it. This holds for every match, from Patia to Old Town.

At home in your locality, or online

A tutor can come to a flat in Niladri Vihar or a house in Old Town. When travel is awkward, or when the learner lives out towards Cuttack or Khurda, the same lesson runs online at the same hour.

One fee, set by Edutara

Edutara sets the lesson fee for the class and the subject, tells you the amount at enrolment, and bills it on one invoice. Tutors are paid by Edutara for every lesson and are charged nothing at any point.

Taught to the board the school follows

A CBSE Class 10 paper and a BSE Odisha HSC paper reward different habits of answering. The tutor we look for teaches the one your school sits, with its own question papers and its own marking.

Hours that fit the Odisha school day

Schools across the state move to early morning hours in the hot weeks before the summer vacation, which frees the afternoon. Lesson timings shift with that, and again when the Puja vacation comes in October.

Questions learners in Bhubaneswar ask

How a home tutor is found here, what it costs, and how the boards and the calendar shape the year.

Start by describing the learner: the class, the board the school follows, the subject that is slipping, the locality you live in, and whether the lesson should happen at the house or on a screen. Edutara then looks for a tutor who teaches that exact combination and can reach you at the hour you want. The first lesson is a trial: you watch a real chapter being taught, and the arrangement continues only if it suits the learner.

Home tuition in Bhubaneswar: what to know

Most schools in the city belong to one of four systems. The Board of Secondary Education, Odisha conducts the Class 10 examination, still called the matric or HSC examination by almost everyone who has sat it. The Council of Higher Secondary Education, Odisha conducts the Plus Two examination in the Arts, Science, Commerce and Vocational streams. Alongside them, CBSE and the ICSE and ISC examinations of the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations run in a large number of private schools across Chandrasekharpur, Nayapalli, Patia and Jayadev Vihar.

The state government has said it intends to bring Class 10 and Plus Two under one board by merging BSE and CHSE, and a draft law was reported in September 2026. For a learner sitting an examination this session, nothing has changed. The practical question for the learner stays the same: ask the school which board's question paper will be set, and make sure the tutor has taught that paper before.

  • BSE Odisha conducts the Class 10 HSC examination
  • CHSE Odisha conducts Plus Two in the Arts, Science, Commerce and Vocational streams
  • CBSE and ISC papers reward different answering habits from the state board
  • Odia and English are both used as media of instruction across the city

The School and Mass Education Department sets the calendar for government, aided and privately managed schools in the state, and that calendar decides when tuition earns its place. For 2026 it fixed the summer vacation from 6 May to 17 June and the Puja vacation from 17 to 26 October. In the hot weeks before the summer break, schools across Odisha were ordered to run from 6:30 am to 10:30 am, which pulls the whole day forward and leaves the afternoon open for a lesson.

Board examinations sit at the other end of the year. The Board of Secondary Education, Odisha held the 2026 Class 10 examination from 19 February to 2 March and published the results on 2 May, and the Council of Higher Secondary Education declared the Plus Two results on 20 May. The timetable for the coming session is announced by the board itself, usually towards the close of the preceding year, so a student planning tuition counts backwards from a February start.

  • Summer vacation 2026: 6 May to 17 June
  • Puja vacation 2026: 17 to 26 October
  • Class 10 examination window: February into early March
  • Morning school hours from 6:30 am in the weeks before the summer break

Engineering admission in Odisha runs on JEE Main. First-year B.Tech, B.Arch, B.Plan and integrated M.Sc seats are allotted through OJEE counselling on JEE Main scores, with NATA added for architecture, so a Plus Two Science student aiming at a state engineering seat is preparing for a national paper. IIT Bhubaneswar, whose campus stands at Argul near Jatani in Khordha district, admits through JEE Advanced and the JoSAA process that follows it.

The OJEE examination itself covers a different set of courses: B.Pharm, MCA, MBA, the integrated MBA, M.Tech and lateral entry into the second year of B.Tech and B.Pharm. In 2026 it was conducted as a computer-based test in early May. Medical admission runs on NEET-UG, and AIIMS Bhubaneswar at Sijua in Patrapada fills its MBBS seats through the national counselling that follows. CUET-UG is the route into central university programmes for Arts, Commerce and Science students alike.

  • JEE Main decides first-year B.Tech seats, allotted through OJEE counselling
  • The OJEE paper covers B.Pharm, MCA, MBA and lateral entry
  • NEET-UG for medical seats, AIIMS Bhubaneswar included
  • CUET-UG for admission to central universities

Bhubaneswar was designed in 1946 by the German architect Otto Königsberger and became the capital of Odisha on 13 April 1948. It was laid out in numbered units, each planned with its own high school, shopping centre, dispensary and play areas, and Unit 5 holds the State Secretariat and the Assembly. That plan still governs how the city speaks about itself: Bapuji Nagar is Unit 1, Ashok Nagar is Unit 2, Kharvela Nagar is Unit 3, and a resident giving directions is as likely to name a unit as a street. According to the 2011 Census the city had about 8.4 lakh residents and a literacy rate above 93 per cent.

The newer city grew north and west of that core, into the vihars of Chandrasekharpur, Patia and Sailashree Vihar, and out along the Khurda road past Khandagiri. A postgraduate student living near the Vani Vihar campus can reach Jayadev Vihar in minutes and Old Town in a good deal longer. That distance is why we ask for the locality along with the class: a tutor who is right on paper and an hour's ride away will not last a full term.

  • Units are still how the central city is addressed
  • The State Secretariat and the Assembly stand in Unit 5
  • Chandrasekharpur, Patia and Khandagiri carry the newer growth
  • Give us the locality with the class, so the travel is realistic

The Comprehensive Modular Survey: Education 2025, conducted by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation as part of the 80th round of the National Sample Survey, found that 27 per cent of students in India were taking private coaching, and 30.7 per cent of students in urban areas. In Bhubaneswar that shows itself on the ground: entrance coaching centres cluster around Jayadev Vihar, Acharya Vihar and Saheed Nagar, and a Plus Two Science student often spends several evenings a week travelling to one.

A coaching batch moves at the pace of the batch, which serves a learner who is already close to the level being taught. Home tuition does the other job. It sits with one learner, finds the chapter where the understanding first broke, and rebuilds from there before the next class test arrives. Plenty of students in the city use both: coaching for the entrance syllabus, and a home tutor for the board papers that decide the marksheet.

  • A coaching batch moves at one pace for everybody in the room
  • Home tuition starts from where this particular learner is
  • Entrance coaching clusters near Jayadev Vihar and Acharya Vihar
  • Many students pair coaching with a home tutor

Home tuition in other cities

Edutara works the same way in each of these cities, with tutors and boards local to them.

Ask for a home tutor in Bhubaneswar

Write down the class, the board, the subject and the part of the city you live in. The first lesson is a trial, so you decide once you have seen the teaching.
